STV Edinburgh
STV Edinburgh is a local television channel based in Edinburgh which launched on 12 January 2015. It is one of two local television channels owned by STV Group plc, along with STV Glasgow.
==History==
STV were awarded local TV licences in January 2013 to operate two digital television channels, under the working titles of GTV and ETV, in Glasgow and Edinburgh respectively, for up to 12 years. STV will work in partnership with Glasgow Caledonian University and Edinburgh Napier University on the channels.
STV Edinburgh launched at 19:00 on Monday 12 January 2015, originally airing every day from midday until around midnight. Its sister station STV Glasgow launched first, on 2 June 2014.
The channel soon extended its hours in March 2015, along with sister channel STV Glasgow. The channels now began broadcasting at 7am on weekdays, starting with children's programming slot "''Weans' World''". On weekends, the channels begin at 7am with the rolling ''STV News'' text service - "''Weans' World''" airs from 9am.
